ACC Legal Operations launches the ACC Legal Operations Maturity Model, Toolkit and Webinar Series to support advancement of legal function.
WASHINGTON (January 17, 2018) — The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), a global legal association representing more than 43,000 in-house counsel in 85 countries, today announced the launch of the ACC Legal Operations Maturity Model, Toolkit and Webinar Series. The reference tool provides law department leaders the ability to benchmark maturity, gain alignment on department priorities, and enhance the operations of a legal department.
Consisting of 14 different areas, the ACC Legal Operations Maturity Model, Toolkit and Webinar Series will help in-house counsel and legal operations professionals advance from early to intermediate and advanced stages in any of these key functions, such as financial management, legal technology, vendor management, knowledge management, compliance, contract management, and information governance, among others.
"General counsel and law department leaders seek insight into how to improve service delivery and reduce spend and thus, the goal of this model and the toolkit is to make it very clear how to advance the legal function," said Reese Arrowsmith, chair of ACC Legal Operations and VP, head of legal operations at Campbell Soup Company. "It sets forth markers of maturity in a variety of areas and identifies opportunities to innovate in the delivery and management of legal services without requiring each company to reinvent the wheel."
ACC Legal Operations members are collaborating with leading legal service providers, including Consilio, Contoural, HBR Consulting, Integreon, NAVEX Global, QuisLex, Thompson Hine, and UnitedLex, on the foundational toolkit. These tools will be presented in a series of monthly webinars throughout the year — led by seasoned legal operations professionals who will offer real-life experiences on how to implement improvements to the legal department. The webinar series begins January 25 with "Evolving Your Strategic Planning and Legal Ops Leadership."
