The Dubai Judicial Institute and ACC recently entered into an agreement to cooperate in the promotion of each organization's mission and goals.
DUBAI AND WASHINGTON (September 27, 2018) — The Dubai Judicial Institute, a government body which prepares and qualifies citizens of the Emirate for professions in the judiciary, and the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), a global legal association representing more than 43,000 in-house lawyer members in 85 countries, recently entered into an agreement to cooperate in the mutual promotion of each organization's mission and goals, including the exchange of information and ideas.
James A. Merklinger, president of the ACC Credentialing Institute, signed the agreement on behalf of ACC. The signing ceremony in Dubai took place ahead of the second ACC In-house Counsel Certification Program, which ran from 3-6 September at the Dubai World Trade Center.
The agreement facilitates networking and communication between the global in-house counsel community and the Dubai judicial system, furthering understanding of Dubai's legal systems. The collaboration will also create additional opportunities for Dubai's legal and business circles to interact, with the goal of expanding Dubai's role as a global business hub. ACC and the DJI also plan to support training efforts for in-house lawyers, judges, prosecutors, and other members of the legal profession as part of the collaboration. In light of Dubai's role as a global business hub, the agreement between ACC and the DJI states that the collaboration is an opportunity to provide additional training and educational programming for the many multinational lawyers working and living in the Emirate.
"ACC members frequently cite Dubai as one of the leading locations where they conduct business, and we are pleased that this collaboration with the Dubai Judicial Institute will serve both our members and the larger legal profession in the Emirate," Merklinger said.
