WASHINGTON (June 7, 2016) –– The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), a global legal association representing more than 40,000 in-house counsel employed by more than 10,000 corporations and other organizations in 85 countries, announced the appointment of Kevin J. Buck as chief operating officer (COO).
As COO, Buck will lead ACC's internal shared services and support functions: marketing/business development, program operations, finance, information technology, human resources, and office administration. Buck will oversee the divisions that run education programs for members, including the ACC Annual Meeting, and secure non-dues revenue and cultivate relationships with sponsors. His responsibilities will also include leading teams that provide the technology platforms necessary for members, programming, and staff; overseeing budgeting and staffing needs for teams working in the United States and Australia; and ensuring that ACC remains a progressive workplace when it comes to flexibility, diversity, and benefits.
"Kevin has been a highly respected member of the legal marketing industry and a key strategist in driving global growth and new opportunities at ACC for 16 years," said Veta T. Richardson, ACC president and CEO. "We are pleased to name him chief operating officer and look forward to what he will accomplish for our association and our team's ability to provide the best member service in his expanded leadership role."
After serving as a tax lawyer at Deloitte and a regional manager at LexisNexis, Buck joined ACC in 2000 as director of marketing and was named CMO in 2005, then vice president and CMO in 2007. Since Buck joined the association in 2000, non-dues revenue has increased more than four-fold as a result of his work and the contributions of the team he has trained.
"ACC staff members excel at serving our more than 40,000 members, and in my new role, I will be able to ensure our service to ACC employees is similarly unmatched while also focusing on enhancing business operations," Buck said. "It has been a privilege to be part of the movement that elevated and defined the role of in-house counsel. I am honored to be part of the ACC family and am prepared to set and meet new goals in the years ahead."
Buck received his B.S. in finance & marketing from the University of Virginia, and his J.D. from St. John's University School of Law. He also earned an LL.M. in taxation from New York University.
