Organization overview
The Charlotte Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel serves over 700 in-house counsel members predominantly in the immediate Charlotte vicinity but extending through the western region of North Carolina including Hickory and Asheville, north through Winston-Salem, and encompassing members who opt in from the Fort Mill and Rock Hill areas of northern South Carolina. The chapter provides over 50 events annually to its members encompassing CLE’s, networking opportunities, pro bono and community service opportunities, and other social events.
Job purpose
This position is responsible for supporting the Executive Director by implementing assigned programs and services on a day to day basis with limited supervision.
Duties and responsibilities
With limited supervision, take the lead for assigned programs to timely identify program locations, pre-file for CLE approval, market (including website updates, Eventbrite registration and Constant Contact setup), initiate regular communication with (remind) sponsors of their obligations, coordinate with caterer as needed, confirm liaison and officer attendance as appropriate, prepare name tags or CLE sign-in sheets if needed, take or assure photos are taken and provided to Communications Committee, tally and report attendance for CLE credit (including check), and send out and compile survey results.
Attend all monthly CLE luncheons and lead the technical support for broadcast of presentations to remote members. In addition, be responsible for putting together a power point with photos needed for the Casino Night, Sponsorship Appreciation Event and the Annual Meeting, in addition to any other additional events as assigned.
Support the Executive Director in working with the VP of Sponsorship/Programming to prepare, gain Board approval, distribute law firm sponsorship packages and take the lead on vendor sponsorship packages, create a calendar of events, invoice sponsors, plan and execute a sponsorship appreciation event.
Support the Executive Director in working with the Communications Committee and take the lead to ensure that the newsletter is produced quarterly by adding articles, photos and distributing to our membership using Constant Contact or another assigned program.
Support the Executive Director in working with the Social Committee and Community Outreach Committee to aggregate volunteers, plan logistics, take the lead for assigned programs which may include the Annual Gala, Casino Night and/or the GC Dinner.
Support the Executive Director in providing members services as assigned, including responding to member requests and inquiries, soliciting new members, preparing and reviewing communications (weekly emails, quarterly newsletters), and take the lead in working with the Membership Committee to assure lapsed members are contacted.
Support the Executive Director in soliciting Committee and Affinity Group Chairs and volunteers from the membership, and take the lead in coordinating with assigned committees.
Support the Executive Director in coordinating with ACC International by participating in quarterly calls, maintaining our chapter website by adding new chapter events and sponsor information and attending either the Annual or Mid-Year Meeting as assigned.
Complete other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Juris Doctor or paralegal certification is a plus.
- Transparent and high integrity leadership required.
- Technology skills required, particularly with audio-visual equipment.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills required, particularly with Excel and PowerPoint.
- Initiative, drive, and well-developed interpersonal skills required.
- Experience working with attorneys preferred.
- Marketing experience preferred.
Working conditions
This position requires travel and remote work. Access to a reliable vehicle and proper licensure must be maintained. Additionally air travel to ACC International’s meetings is expected. Finally, the Assistant Director is expected to provide their own safe and comfortable work space.
Physical requirements
This position requires the ability to lift boxes of equipment and materials into and out of vehicles and at venue locations.
