We were all set to hit the “go” button on our first hybrid (in-person and online) In-house Counsel Day in Melbourne in May, when a few new cases of COVID-19 returned Victoria to lockdown. While Victoria is now back to a healthy position we are responding to the ever-changing Australia-wide restrictions, a by switching to a fully virtual In-House Counsel Day.
Having experienced such positive and helpful feedback from the Virtual Conference 2020, we are confident of creating an even better experience for all members for one day of learning on 28 July 2021.
Here are the top four reasons virtual conferences are awesome, as shared by attendees of the Virtual Conference 2020:
- It was great to be able to bounce between sessions without having to sneak out the back of the room, deciding which session was most relevant for my own learning objectives.
- Being an introvert, I don’t normally have the courage to put up my hand and ask questions in face-to-face conferences, but with the on-line Q&A and comments, I was able to engage without a microphone in my face and all eyes on me!
- I loved the fact that the sessions stayed exactly to time, and I was able to manage my schedule without missing anything.
- Any session I missed; I was able to view later in my own time.
That’s the top four, but there are so many more, the most obvious being the lack of disruption to your time/place. You simply get up, enact your email auto-response saying you are in training all day, turn off your notifications, grab a coffee and get set for the most relevant day of in-house legal learning you’ll experience this year! You can even have a PJ and slippers day – no one will know the difference.
