Overview (Program Summary)

A program hosted by:

ACC Alabama

This CLE covers high-profile employment discrimination litigation in the wake of the #MeToo movement, and covers proactive legislative measures taken and changes to certain M&A contractual language in the wake of the movement.  We want to offer companies and corporate counsel practical tips for approaching sexual harassment and retaliation claims, which spiked significantly during FY 2017 with respect to the number of EEOC charges.

Speakers

Bob Bragalone practices in state and federal courts across Texas and Oklahoma and in other jurisdictions across the country. He is a member of the firm’s Employment, Tort & Product Liability, Personal Injury, and Commercial Litigation practice groups.  Mr. Bragalone is the former Managing Partner of the firm's Dallas office and now manages the Oklahoma City office.  Bob is an accomplished trial lawyer with a broad base of experience acquired during 30 years of practice. He maintains a diverse civil trial practice, representing a wide array of clients ranging from start-ups and non-profits to small and large businesses, major Fortune 500 companies, and leading national and international insurers. He uses his unique skills to meet his client’s legitimate business objectives, whether they be early resolution or trial.

Nathan Pearman is Senior Counsel in the Dallas office.  He represents small businesses to large global corporations in complex litigation involving high-stakes commercial disputes, labor and employment matters, construction litigation, and trade secret litigation. Mr. Pearman’s employment practice focuses on representing corporate clients in all types of employment litigation, as well as restrictive covenants/non-compete agreement litigation.  His commercial litigation practice includes the representation of corporate entities as well as corporate officers and directors in business and commercial-related disputes in both state and federal courts involving claims of breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of warranty, non-competition, non-solicitation and trade secret disputes, defamation/business disparagement, tortious interference with contract, fraud, products liability and other business-related torts.   He has successfully tried cases and handled appeals in state and federal courts. Texas Lawyer recognized one of his trials in 2011 in their list of top ten contracts jury verdicts in Texas.

Leslie Eason is the Office Co-Managing Partner of the Atlanta office and the Office Managing Partner of the Birmingham office. She has a national litigation practice focusing on employment law and commercial disputes.  Before joining the firm, Ms. Eason served as General Counsel at a company with nationwide and international operations.  In this role, she reported to and worked directly with CEO/President concerning all legal matters for the company, including employment issues, contract negotiations, business policies and procedures, compliance-related issues, and litigation (initiation and defense).  This prior corporate experience allows Ms. Eason to address disputes from a business perspective, giving deference to a client’s bottom line.
