Managing evolving legal requirements through effective document retention policies and schedules
This program will cover the development and implementation of records and information management policy along with supporting records retention schedule. Join Colin Cahill, CRM, Senior Consultant, Records and Information Governance, and ACC members to learn key elements of development and implementation processes. Key takeaways include how to manage evolving (and sometimes competing) legal requirements, project initiation, discovery, policy topics and workshops, communication plan, policy forums, technology systems and much more.
Colin Cahill, CRM, Senior Consultant, Records and Information Governance, Epiq
Colin, a Certified Records Manager (CRM), has over 25 years of experience providing advisory services to corporate legal departments and law firms. Colin has worked with Fortune 500 organizations and Am Law 200 law firms, helping them to reduce spend, improve efficiencies, mitigate risk and enhance competitive advantage. His specialties include: conducting comprehensive information governance and records management assessments; developing policies and procedures; and the design and implementation of document management, records management; information governance; and conflicts of interest systems. Prior to joining Epiq, Colin provided strategic consulting services as a Manager at HBR Consulting, a Senior Consultant at eSentio Technologies, MDY Advanced Technologies (now HP) and Iron Mountain Consulting. He was also the Global Records & Information Manager at both Bain & Company and Wellington Management LLC. He also directed the Conflicts, New Business Intake and Records & Information Management programs at both Ropes & Gray LLP and Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP. Colin has been active professionally having been the President of the ARMA-Boston Chapter, the Northeast Region Coordinator for ARMA and a Director at AIIM New England. He is also an active speaker having presented at ALA, ILTA, ARMA, InfoGovCon, AON Risk Management, and various Risk Roundtables.
Gabrielle Allen, Senior Manager, Global Information & Records Governance, Western Union
Responsibilities of this role include monitoring compliance with the retention schedule for both structured and unstructured data. Previously, she was a Scrum Product Owner on the Customer Experience team and managed Dodd Frank Consumer Protection governance at Western Union. Gabrielle also has several years of audit experience at various Financial Service companies, including Ernst and Young. Gabrielle received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan.
