Catherine Ballantyne – Special Counsel, Madgwicks Lawyers

Catherine is a business disputes specialist. She regularly advises on defamation, partnership, shareholder and contractual disputes, misleading and deceptive conduct claims, compulsory acquisition, PPSR, and reinstatement of companies. She works with Counsel and appears on behalf of clients in proceedings in all Victorian State and Federal Courts. Catherine is a regular author and presenter, appearing on ABC Radio National and in publications such as Smart Company, Industry Insider Magazine and Australian Property Journal.

ACCAUS Justin Castelan

Justin Castelan – Barrister, Victorian Bar

Justin is a barrister experienced in defamation matters. He has appeared in a wide range of matters, including representing nine plaintiffs in Moroney v Zegers, who cumulatively won the second highest defamation verdict in Victorian history. He appeared for the Australian Film Institute in the Geoffrey Rush trial and is often asked to comment in the media on defamation matters, most recently on ABC News with respect to the recent Kabbabe application for preliminary discovery against Google. He is the author of Defamation Watch blog and secretary of the Media Law Section of the Commercial Bar Association.
