ACC NCR Pro Bono Education Series: History of Poverty, Racism, Discrimination, Oppression and Systemic Barriers Presented by Legal Services of Northern Virginia.
Please join the ACC NCR Pro Bono Committee and Legal Services of Northern Virginia to learn about and discuss laws and policies that have had a particular impact on low-income individuals. This program will also discuss the influence of inequities in society that cause poverty, with a focus on racism. Virginia specific policies will be highlighted, as well as the role of legal aid and pro bono services. This is intended as an introduction to these topics in the civil context and will not focus on criminal law. Virginia MCLE – approval pending.
This program is the first of a series of virtual offerings from the Pro Bono Committee to provide more information from organizations we regularly partner with on pro bono opportunities. Open to members and sponsors. Everyone with an interest in pro bono and access to legal justice is welcome. (Annual Relationship Sponsors may send two representatives.
