In this presentation, we will provide an overview of the patent process from strategies to safeguard intellectual property to adeptly managing patent litigation disputes. This primer will equip and empower in-house counsel teams with best practices for handling patent issues in the corporate setting, allowing for informed decisions that align with company objectives.
Speakers
Steven Caloiaro – Steven is a Member Partner in Dickinson Wright’s Reno office. He is an intellectual property litigator with an emphasis on patent and trademark law. Steven has substantial experience in all phases of patent litigation, including fact and expert discovery, drafting claim construction summary judgment and appellate briefs. He works with several clients in the emerging online gaming industry, serving as external IP counsel and managing large-scale patent portfolios, including multi-million dollar sale negotiations. Steven provides strategic counsel on trademark protection, prepares and prosecutes trademark applications, enforces intellectual property rights, and litigates patent infringement matters. He also helps clients navigate proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), including settling inter partes review cases before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).
Kevin Everage – As an Associate in Dickinson Wright’s Las Vegas office, Kevin focuses his practice on intellectual property with an emphasis on litigation and patent prosecution. Kevin sharpened his IP skills in his prior roles as a patent agent and intellectual property coordinator with a Las Vegas-based designer and operator of highly-rated data center ecosystems and as a patent examiner for the United States Patent Office.
