Overview (Program Summary)
A program hosted by:
ACC NevadaThe 82nd (2023) Session of the Nevada State Legislature began February 6 and will adjourn June 5. The bills that make it to Governor Lombardo’s desk and those that he signs into law reflect a state government that has a Republican Governor looking to fulfill campaign promises with a Democrat-controlled State Assembly and State Senate. Nevada Democrats have a bare supermajority in the Assembly (28-14) and are one shy of a supermajority in the Senate (13-8). Without a supermajority in both chambers, Democrats are unable to override a gubernatorial veto and cannot raise taxes without a two-thirds vote as stipulated in a constitutional amendment. The CLE program will provide an update on new and changed laws, regulations, and compliance requirements that directly and indirectly impact in-house counsel, including those employment, labor laws, worker’s compensation, healthcare, housing, education, taxes, energy, natural resources, gun control, and economic development.
