ACC OntarioJoin ACC Ontario with McCarthy Tétrault as they discuss their recent successful defence of Meta (Facebook) in the Federal Court of Canada suit brought by the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. This case arose out of the Cambridge Analytica incident and is one of the most significant privacy lawsuits ever pursued in Canada. The Privacy Commissioner alleged that Meta breached Canada's federal privacy legislation by disclosing the personal information of Facebook users to third-party apps without the users' consent and by failing to safeguard that information. On April 13, the Federal Court dismissed the Privacy Commissioner’s suit, finding all allegations unproven.
