ACC San Francisco Bay AreaEach year, more data protection laws are enacted, making it increasingly difficult for organizations to navigate the complicated web of rules as they attempt to leverage their data. This year, eight U.S. states passed new comprehensive privacy laws that will go into effect in the coming years, and Washington and Nevada passed health privacy laws that will go into effect at the end of March 2024. In addition, there have been developments on the federal privacy law front, the FTC has been active on the health data front, several countries have passed or enacted new comprehensive privacy laws, the EU is working on new regulations, and then add GenAI to the mix. During this session, we will discuss:
- the key data protection laws going into effect after 2024
- the applicability of these laws to your organization
- how the laws are similar and key differences in the laws
- key compliance areas you should consider focusing on in 2024 given recent litigation (such as tracking technology issues, sensitive data, etc.)
