In-house lawyers face challenges in assisting their Boards and Executives to manage risks in their corporate environment.  

Thomson Geer Partner, Bronwyn Lincoln will present on managing the corporate risks in this changing world by addressing and navigating rapidly developing technology, understanding social license; and responding to climate change challenges. This presentation will be followed by a panel discussion with guest panellists Brenton Cox, Managing Director, Adelaide Airport and Francis Placanica, Legal Consultant, Liberty Steel/Simec Group and moderator Shannon Emrick, Director, ACC.

This session is the perfect opportunity to engage and network with other in-house counsels whilst leaving with in-depth knowledge on the tools to manage future risks.

Bronwyn Lincoln

Bronwyn Lincoln, Partner, Thomson Geer

Bronwyn Lincoln is a Partner in Thomson Geer's Melbourne Disputes team. She is an experienced commercial litigator and arbitration practitioner who is also a recognised international arbitrator.

Bronwyn acts for national and international entities in complex, high value, often cross border disputes across a range of industries including international trade, infrastructure, insurance, financial services, pharmaceutical, telecommunications, consumer goods and energy and resources.  She conducts litigation in a range of Australian jurisdictions including State Supreme Courts, the Federal Court of Australia and the appellate courts.

She is also experienced in mediation, appearing as counsel for parties, and is one of Australia's four designated ICSID conciliators.

Bronwyn's arbitration experience includes the conduct of arbitral proceedings in construction and infrastructure, pharmaceutical, international trade (including ‘take or pay') and in the energy and renewables space. Bronwyn has also appeared as co-counsel in arbitration proceedings in multiple jurisdictions, including Switzerland and Singapore.
 

Brenton

Brenton Cox, Managing Director, Adelaide Airport

Brenton has been Managing Director of Adelaide Airport since the end of 2021. He joined Adelaide Airport in 2013 and performed a number of Executive General Manager responsibilities. Brenton was previously an executive with Sydney Airport, Macquarie Airports in Sydney and Macquarie Capital in London where he had a particular focus on European Airports. He has also acted as a non-executive director of Sydney Airport and Hobart Airport. Brenton has a Master of Law from Cambridge University in the UK, a First Class Honours Degree in Law from Adelaide University as well as a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Corporate Finance) and Bachelor of Finance from Adelaide University. Brenton is admitted to practise as a solicitor and barrister of the Supreme Court of South Australia and the High Court of Australia. 

Brenton is a Director of the Adelaide Festival, a Board member of Adelaide University Business School Advisory Board, a Director of Seymour College, and a Councillor of the Property Council of South Australia and Freight Council of South Australia.
 

Francis Placanica

Francis Placanica, Legal Consultant, Liberty Steel/Simec Group

Francis is a corporate lawyer who has spent most of his career in-house in various types of organisations across different industries, from mining to engineering to biotechnology and pharmaceuticals - all industries involving rapid changes in technology and, most recently, the challenge of climate change for the nation’s largest emitting industry. 

Francis was Head of Legal and Company Secretary for one part of the GFG business in Australia, which is currently privately owned, and where Francis supported the boards of two companies.
