Overview (Program Summary)

ACC AustraliaPage Seager Lawyers is excited to host ACC Australia members for an update on major changes to the unfair contract provisions of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth). The changes to the Act will prohibit unfair contract terms in standard form contracts and introduce penalties for contravention of unfair contract term provisions of the Act. These changes come into effect on 10 November 2023.
Join Kathryn Speed and Sarah Standen for an overview of the changes and what steps need to be taken now by organisations to ensure compliance.
Speakers
Kathryn Speed, Principal, Page Seager
Kathryn provides advice for property owners and developers, government and state owned corporations and local government on tendering, probity, governance, commercial contracts and risk management solutions.
She also drafts and negotiates a wide range of project documentation, including construction and infrastructure contracts, information technology contracts and procurement documentation. She is experienced in the use of AS construction contracts and also prepares bespoke construction, equipment supply, asset management and other commercial contracts to suit individual client needs.
Kathryn also regularly provides advice in relation to governance, privacy, information technology and intellectual property issues.
Sarah Standen, Lawyer, Page Seager
Sarah has a Bachelor of Arts and Laws from the University of Tasmania with first class honours in charity law reform. Sarah is a board member of the Association for Children with Disability (Tas) Inc.
Prior to being admitted as a legal practitioner and joining Page Seager’s Corporate & Commercial group, Sarah worked in a compliance role with the Australian Taxation Office.
Sarah has a particular interest in cyber security and privacy law and provides advice and training for clients to ensure compliance with the rapidly evolving obligations in this area. Sarah is also the founder of Page Seager’s Cyber Security & Privacy Bulletin.
