ACC San DiegoBest Practices for Drafting Transactional Documents and Overview of New Rule of Professional Conduct 8.3 on Reporting other Attorneys’ Misconduct to the State Bar
In this webinar, Jason Jones and Alexia Camperi will discuss best practices for drafting transactional legal documents, with a special emphasis on working seamlessly with non-lawyer business teams within your companies. They will also address the impact of new Rule 8.3 of the California Rules of Professional Conduct, which addresses a lawyer’s duty to report the misconduct of another, and its potential impact on in-house and transactional attorneys.
Why You Should Attend
Drafting transactional legal documents and managing client expectations (whether the “client” is the leader of a business unit or a member of the company’s management team) can be a challenge for any transactional attorney. Jason Jones and Alexia Camperi, experienced corporate attorneys who serve as outside general counsel to dozens of start-ups, will share their insights on how to manage legal risk while ensuring a smooth process. In addition, Mr. Jones and Ms. Camperi will discuss newly adopted Rule 8.3 of the California Rules of Professional Conduct. Rule 8.3, which became effective on August 1, 2023, was adopted as a reform after the “Tom Girardi Scandal” and addresses the obligation of an attorney to report the misconduct of another attorney. Join us for a discussion regarding the potential impact it may have on the legal profession generally, and how it may affect our personal experiences as lawyers moving forward.
