A panel formed by Hayden Gordine, Partner and Head of Australia, Taylor Root, Tyrilly Csillag, Director of Legal Transformation, Asia & Emerging Markets, Thomson Reuters and Sean Hughes, Regulator Strategy, Engagement, Governance and Accountability, Vanguard Australia, will talk to the various trends we are seeing in the legal sector, both globally, as seen in the results of Thomson Reuters’ research, and locally, through ACC Australia’s 2024 Trends Survey, sponsored by Taylor Root. This complimentary session will be moderated by ACC Australia NSW Committee President, Howard Edelman.

Hayden Gordine, Partner - Head of Australia, Taylor Root

Hayden is a qualified lawyer who practiced as corporate lawyer up until 5 years pqe. He then moved into legal recruitment where he has remained since. As a specialist in the senior in-house lawyer market, Hayden is regularly retained on Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel and Head of Legal campaigns across APAC. He is passionate about law and desires to work as a specialist recruiter where long-standing relationships remain fundamental to success.

Tyrilly Csillag, Director of Legal Transformation, Thomson Reuters, Asia & Emerging Markets

As a thought leader and legal technology advocate, Tyrilly keeps the wider legal community informed with the latest industry insights and connects fellow lawyers and their teams with future-fit, trusted legal tech solutions from Thomson Reuters including CoCounsel, Legal Tracker, HighQ, Practical Law and Westlaw. 

As a former managing counsel, she brings 10+ years of legal practice including first-hand experience leading significant software transactions, and a perpetual curiosity for using technology to do things better, to complement the Thomson Reuters' team empowering legal tech transformations for in-house legal teams and law firms across Australia, New Zealand and beyond.
Tyrilly is the host of the Enabling Legal Innovation podcast and is also a regular contributor to digital media including Thomson Reuters Legal Insights, webinars and other podcasts. She was recently featured in CIO Magazine's 10 Most Influential Women in Legal Services for 2024.
 

Sean Hughes

Sean Hughes, Regulator Strategy, Engagement, Governance and Accountability, Vanguard Australia

Sean has significant experience in law, governance, regulation, financial services, wealth management and risk. Prior to joining Vanguard in 2023, Sean served as a Commissioner at Australia's corporate, financial services and consumer credit regulator, Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). There he led the regulatory oversight of the banking, credit and payment systems sectors as well as insolvency, financial reporting and audit regulation, corporate finance, and governance regulation.

Sean was also formerly Group General Counsel for Tabcorp, and Chief Risk and Legal Officer at UniSuper. Prior to this he was CEO of the Financial Markets Authority in New Zealand and has held leadership positions at National Australia Bank, Australia and New Zealand Banking Group and was a partner at the law firm Herbert Geer & Rundle (now Thompson Geer).”

His also a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
