ACC Central OhioPatent and copyright registrations have limited durations while trademark and trade dress registrations can hypothetically last forever. Although each intellectual property discipline generally covers different subject matter, there is some overlap. This webinar will explore potential strategies to extend the protections afforded under patent and copyright law by using trademark and trade dress law as well as potential pitfalls in attempting to double dip. This webinar is helpful for any in-house counsel seeking to navigate the complexities of prolonging the commercial life of their innovations and creative works through alternative legal avenues.
Speakers
Joel Feldman, Co-Chair of the firm’s Trademark & Brand Management Group and adjunct law professor, creates bespoke global domestic and international brand management strategies, crafts licensing and transactional frameworks for the commercialization of trademarks and copyrights, and resolves trademark, copyright, domain-name, and publicity rights controversies.
Bob King, Chair of the Atlanta Intellectual Property & Technology Practice, focuses his intellectual property law practice on patent portfolio management, patent prosecution, and intellectual property licensing. Bob counsels clients in patent prosecution, avoidance of the patent rights of others, patent litigation, and brand protection. Bob has a background as an electrical engineer, as well as wide-ranging experience with a variety of technologies, including computer hardware and software, blockchain technology, banking systems, mobile payments, remote device management, biometric authentication, quantum computing, augmented and virtual reality systems, the metaverse, mechanical devices, and medical devices. He also represents clients in patent litigation involving software, electronics, semiconductor, and medical device technology.
