With the June 2023 enactment of the PWFA and the regulations that followed, Congress and the EEOC have emphasized the critical importance of developing, implementing, and applying compliant approaches to pregnancy, childbirth, and related accommodation needs. Beyond the PWFA, numerous states and localities have similar pregnancy-related accommodation requirements. In this session, the speakers will examine employer obligations under the PWFA and explore strategies for compliance.

"The Latest in Labor: Everything You Need to Know About the NLRB But Wish You Didn’t" Presented by Cozen O'Connor

The NLRB has been active as of late, with considerable developments and significant decisions that have implications for employers and the labor landscape in general. In this ever-evolving world of labor law, it is imperative that in-house counsel stay on top of the latest NLRB developments and stats, including the number of petitions being filed, union v. employer win rates, and the number of ULPs being filed. The panel will also discuss the Cemex decision, its effect on election procedures and timelines, and the status of recent Board rulemaking regarding independent contractors, joint employers, and handbook policies. They will also cover remedies under the NLRA and the definition of protected concerted activity. Additionally, the panel will look at the future labor landscape and how upcoming events could impact employers. The speakers will cover potential changes due to the upcoming presidential election, increased court scrutiny as to the level of deference to be afforded to the NLRB, and challenges to the constitutionality of the NLRB.
