Overview (Program Summary)
A program hosted by:
ACC EuropeACC Europe and Pestalozzi warmly invite you to kick off the holiday season with us on Thursday, 28 November 2024 at a special event.
We will start the evening with an engaging presentation on the highly relevant and current topic of climate litigation. The presentation will be followed by a festive apéro to celebrate the season. If the weather allows, we will be hosting it on our rooftop, which offers a stunning view directly over Lake Zurich — a perfect spot to enjoy the evening.
Lukas Rusch, Partner at Pestalozzi, is sharing his insights on the recent developments in climate litigation and key takeaways for in-house counsel. The presentation will be rounded off with a festive Christmas networking apéro.
Climate litigation is increasingly prevalent around the globe, and Switzerland is no exception. While many cases have traditionally targeted governments, an emerging trend involves direct claims against companies and their management. This shift underscores the importance of climate litigation for in-house counsel, particularly in relation to ESG and compliance strategies.
Lukas Rusch will provide a comprehensive overview of the concept of climate litigation and its legal framework. He will examine significant cases from Swiss courts and beyond, including the landmark ruling in KlimaSeniorinnen v. Switzerland, issued by the European Court of Human Rights on 9 April 2024. The presentation will conclude with practical insights and key takeaways relevant for in-house counsel.
The event will be conducted in English.
Please RSVP by 21 November 2024.
