This session will look at some of the signs that may indicate a company is on the brink of insolvency and outline the tips and traps creditors should be aware of/employ when dealing with claims made by Liquidators seeking recovery of preferences.
Speakers
David Colovic, Principal, LK
With a career spanning over 30 years, David is a prominent Australian practitioner in the areas of insolvency and commercial litigation, and has been involved in many significant Australian insolvency administrations.
David has acted for major financial institutions, insolvency practitioners, government instrumentalities, litigation funders, corporates and private concerns. He is recognised for his technical excellence, commercial acumen and unflinching determination to secure outstanding outcomes for clients involved in disputes.
David is the current Chair of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association (ARITA) and is a member of the Law Council Insolvency and Reconstruction Committee.
Matt Simpson, Principal, LK
Matt has wide ranging experience in civil and commercial disputes in Australia and internationally, involving directors’ duties, regulatory investigations, misconduct investigations, professional indemnities, joint ventures, complex contracts, intellectual property and human rights. He also has an extensive practice advising on risk mitigation, corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
Matt’s clients include large and small corporate entities, public authorities, educational institutions, indigenous bodies, sports governing bodies and liquidators.
