Overview (Program Summary)
A program hosted by:
ACC Research Triangle AreaThis session will provide an overview on the importance of implementing an effective AI governance framework within an organization and explore how this can be done in practice. AI governance refers to the policies and processes (e.g., AI oversight committees, impact assessments, training, etc.) designed to manage the development, procurement, deployment, maintenance and decommissioning of AI systems by, or on behalf of, an organization. AI-related regulation is evolving, and regulators and litigants are not waiting for new law to bring AI-related enforcement and litigation. To combat these risks, organizations need effective governance to ensure AI is used responsibly and in a compliant manner. Successful AI governance frameworks are flexible and sustainable, and strategically manage risks while fostering innovation. We will discuss what the landscape of AI governance programs looks like, the key risks these programs mitigate, and – most importantly – the practical challenges encountered and solutions utilized in successfully establishing and implementing such programs.
