Overview (Program Summary)

A program hosted by:

ACC Singapore

India’s rapid economic growth presents significant opportunities for global investors. Many of them have recently entered or expanded their presence in the market.

However, India continues to be a complex environment with significant corporate governance risks. In recent years, several high-profile disputes related to financial fraud, mismanagement, lack of transparency, promoter misconduct, and boardroom conflicts have grabbed the headlines. These issues can escalate into criminal cases under Indian laws, as well as arbitration under investment treaties or commercial agreements.

For regional legal teams overseeing India from Singapore, it is essential to stay abreast with the latest developments on the ground to anticipate and mitigate such risks, especially for General Counsel (GCs) acting as strategic business advisors.

Join experts from India’s largest law firm Khaitan & Co, global firm FTI Consulting and one of your peers from Microsoft for an interactive luncheon discussion, providing practical perspectives and tools to protect your businesses in India. During this session specifically curated for the Association of Corporate Counsel, attendees can expect to:

  1. Understand India's governance risks: Gain insights from case studies of corporate governance failures in India and learn to identify the specific governance risks that can jeopardise operations and profitability.
  2. Learn practical strategies for risk mitigation: Discover effective approaches to manage governance risks, including building strong compliance systems, improving financial transparency, and addressing leadership and ownership conflicts.
  3. Develop an action plan for GCs: Leave with a clear plan of practical steps to ensure enhanced compliance for your India operations.
