Overview (Program Summary)
A program hosted by:
ACC SingaporeAsia’s approach to the employment relationship varies as much as its cultures across the region. From the relatively business-friendly environments of Hong Kong and Singapore, where the employment relationship is generally seen as a terminable contract, to the significant employee protections of Korea and Japan, regional human resources and in-house counsel are often asked to become experts in – and to strategically affect – the termination of employees’ employment regardless of the employment scheme. This panel and group discussion will address key decision points and strategies in employment terminations, providing takeaways such as
- Armoring the company for a proper defense
- Garden leave and/or cutting off access
- Legal risks versus business needs
- Fast is different than cheap
- Immigration pitfalls
The event will combine panel commentary with table discussions on common scenarios to ensure an environment for robust idea creation and sharing good practices.
Presenters:
- Trent Sutton, Shareholder, Littler (moderator)
