Matti Mintz
Senior Legal Counsel
Pilbara Ports Authority
Matti, proud husband and father of three daughters, and Senior Legal Counsel, manages the provision of legal services to five ports under the management of PPA; the world’s largest bulk export port authority which operates as a commercialised entity, with an independent Board of Directors, reporting to WA’s Minister for Ports.
PPA deals with some of the largest companies in Australia and with government, with $168.5 billion worth of commodities passing through in 2021/2022.
Matti has over 16 years’ experience spanning M&A, banking, finance, construction, projects, and infrastructure. Matti advises on legal risk management, commercial, procurement, corporate, construction, projects, oil and gas, mining, environment and heritage, occupational health and safety and shipping matters.
Through close and effective engagement with port-users, service providers and government, Matti manages strategically important, complex, and time-critical projects, as well as advising the Executive team.
Matti utilised his banking and finance expertise recently and led an internal and external team of professionals which resulted in 30+ legal documents being signed and in PPA procuring a loan for $160m (in a first of its kind arrangement which required changes to legislation), enabling the development of infrastructure to support a new $4.5 billion urea manufacturing and export project.
