Opal was formed in May 2020 following the $1.72 billion acquisition of the Orora fibre businesses by Nippon Paper, which were combined with Australian Paper.
Our small, motivated legal team of five lawyers came together following the acquisition and during the global pandemic. Over the past 12 months, our team is proud to have supported the Opal business in a transformative period of growth and integration, combining two businesses together to form a new and innovative renewable packaging company. During this time, we have built a corporate governance framework, introduced automated solutions, advised on business critical projects and provided accurate, commercial and timely legal advice across the organisation.
We have demonstrated that even when working remotely in the midst of a significant business integration, we can successfully collaborate to support Opal’s strategic objectives in an agile, responsive and solutions-focused manner.
