Insurance for Nonprofits Clinic

- Who: In-house attorneys
- Experience: None required
- Training: On-demand training webinar.
- Support: Work in teams; experts available via Zoom
- Time: Limited to 2 1/2 hours, with no ongoing commitment
- Work: Nonprofit representatives will meet one-on-one with attorneys to run through a structured checklist of insurance and risk management-related questions, with the goal of clarifying key insurance concepts and spotting potential coverage issues.

Wills Clinic

- Clients: Low-income individuals
- Where: Virtual (Zoom)
- Who: In-house attorneys and paralegals
- Experience: None required
- Training: On-demand training webinar / live training
- Support: Work in teams; experts available via Zoom
- Time: Limited, with no ongoing commitment
- Work: Attorneys will work with clients to complete forms provided by Maryland Legal Aid. NOTE: Attorneys must be members of Maryland Bar or waived in for purposes of Pro Bono with Maryland Legal Aid. Please contact Julianne Tarver of Maryland Legal Aid at Jtarver@mdlab.org for more information on how to waive into Maryland for Pro Bono. Please allow 30 days for this process.

Name and Gender Change Clinic

- Clients: Low-income individuals

- Work: Name and Gender Change Clinic: Each trained volunteer is assigned to a client and staff mentor to complete name change applications and identity document updates for DC, MD, and VA residents.

In-House Pro Bono in the Time of Covid-19
On September 23, 2020, ACC NCR co-hosted the program In-House Pro Bono in the Time of Covid-19, featuring representatives of legal services organizations and in-house volunteers sharing information about pro bono opportunities involving transactional work, litigation, wills, voting rights, immigration, and more – all of which are currently seeking volunteers for remote work during the pandemic.
