I recently attended the Association of Corporate Counsel 2022 Annual Meeting over 23 -26 October 2022 in Las Vegas. The Annual Meeting’s tag line was “Igniting Innovation In-House” and it delivered. The conference was an amazing opportunity to get involved in a tailored learning path as well as being an opportunity to connect (and re-connect) with my peers and industry experts from all over the world.
From the opening keynote speaker, Luliia Mendel, the former press secretary for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to the ‘micro-learning’ high impact short sessions, I continued to be impressed by the calibre of in-house lawyers in our community and the willingness by so many people to share their expertise and experience.
This was my fifth Annual Meeting in the USA and the focus each year always changes. This year’s take-outs are that DEIB and ESG continues to be top of mind as GCs and corporate counsel, and in-house lawyers continue to tackle the new ways of working in a post-pandemic world, including being challenged with attracting and retaining talent.
I look forward to next year’s Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas, kicking off on 22 October 2023.

I had the great pleasure of attending the ACC Annual Meeting in Las Vegas from 23rd to 26th October. In addition to finally being able to meet some of the other ACC Australia Executive team in person after 2 years of online meetings, I also attended a series of great seminars relevant to my area of work and met some interesting people.
Highlights included listening to a presentation by Iuliia Mendel, Former Press Secretary and Spokesperson for Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine and meeting Sugar Ray Leonard, former WBC Boxing Champion at one of the sponsor booths. The organisers of this event did a brilliant job. It makes me want to attend again next year in San Antonio, Texas.
