This article discusses the increasing popularity of cryptocurrency and how companies are starting to consider paying salaries to employees with cryptocurrency. As of yet, no corporations based in Hong Kong have paid their employees with cryptocurrency.
As Hong Kong law does not classify crypto as standard currency, it is unclear as to whether or not it will be recognized as traditional wages, should corporations pay their employees with it. However, there is still potential for it to be used in the future as part of an employee’s salary payment.
