Please join ACC Oregon for a Wellness Workshop and Happy Hour on September 19 from 4:30pm-7:00pm at the Atrium Terrace at The Standard in downtown Portland.

It's more important than ever to increase our engagement in healthy coping strategies, and we can look to traditional Eastern medical practices that have been used for centuries to help increase sense of self and reduce stress. Led by Lisa Francolini (L.Ac.), attendees will get an overview of practices, tools and resources that can benefit your health and overall well-being as well as be provided with a few basic techniques you can do yourself at home or work.

Healthy food and drink choices will also be on hand during the workshop and the networking happy hour afterwards. This in person workshop and social networking event is open to all in-house counsel regardless of membership in the ACC and will be held on the Atrium Terrace at downtown Portland’s Standard Building.

Revisiting Arbitration Agreements in the Context of PAGA Reform and Other Developments

This presentation will explore the evolving landscape of arbitration agreements, particularly in light of recent case law and statutory changes affecting the Private Attorneys General Act, AB 51 (which sought to preclude employers from requiring arbitration agreements as a condition of employment), and the federal Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act. The speakers will examine key legal developments, their impact on arbitration practices, and offer practical insights for navigating these changes.

Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how to effectively manage arbitration agreements within this shifting regulatory framework.

Navigating Sensitive Data Collection in the Workplace: Application to DEI Initiatives, Recruitment & Accommodations

ACC British Columbia and Harris & Company LLP  invite you to join us for a virtual discussion lead by Michela V. Fiorido, Partner at Harris

Workers are more aware than ever before of their rights and are not hesitant to question and make claims or complaints when they feel their rights have been infringed.

Join us for a discussion about the intersection of privacy and human rights law in the collection and use of sensitive personal information. Practical insights for the collection of data in a DEI context will be discussed, in addition to other collection practices that have the potential to increase legal risk.

This will include topics like social media searches; reference and other background checks; using diversity data for hiring decisions; and dealing with personal information in an accommodation context.

Learn practical tips and tools on managing employee concerns and mitigating the risk of human rights complaints, privacy violations and reputational harm.

This event is open to both ACC members and non-members and will qualify for up to 1.0 hours of CPD credits from the Law Society of BC

Check-in on event day begins at 11:00 a.m. Each player will receive $100 credit to purchase merchandise from the pro shop, in addition to a sleeve of balls. There will be a boxed lunch starting at 11 a.m., practice range access, and a putting contest, leading up to the 12:15 p.m. shotgun start. There will be plenty of on course contests and activities! The networking and cocktail reception will begin at 5:30 p.m.

For Wellness Enthusiasts who will not be joining the golf tournament but want to enjoy other activities on the beautiful Monarch Beach property, we will offer a Nature Walk near Salt Creek Beach and a Spa Day at the Waldorf Astoria at Monarch Beach – details to follow soon. Participants of these activities will be welcome to join the rest of the group for the networking and cocktail reception at the end of the day.
