In September 2016, Och-Ziff, one of the world's largest publicly-traded asset managers, settled a long running DOJ and SEC investigation into corrupt dealings in private equity investments in several African countries. Six years later, this case still has valuable compliance program insights for the financial services industry, especially industry participants operating in or looking to enter emerging markets.
