The University of Sydney - Office of General Counsel
The Office of General Counsel (OGC) provides independent and strategic legal advice and related support to the University of Sydney through three cross-functional units: Legal Services, Policy & Compliance, and our Trusts Office (overseeing gifts under endowment).
We support a broad range of clients and workstreams, essentially spanning the entire University, its research, teaching, operations and partnerships. This wide base gives us a unique enterprise view of the institution.
“Business as usual” contract work is handled by our partner portfolios – such as Procurement , HR, IT and Research teams – using templates, tools and training provided by us, with non-standard and complex work referred to us.
OGC manages most complex legal matters in-house with highly experienced and specialised lawyers. Limited work is briefed to external firms (litigation, tax and foreign jurisdiction).
