Now in its 15th year, the highly successful ACC Australia Future Leaders Mentoring Program is tailored specifically to the needs of in-house counsel. Applications are now open for next year’s Program A which commences in February. In this past week since applications open, the association has already received many applications to participate!

“It’s understandable we have already received so many applications”, says Ingrid Segota, Executive Director, ACC Australia. “More and more professionals are now actively pursuing mentoring as a way to advance their careers. Whether you participate as the mentee or the mentor, both roles provide equal benefit and reward.”

Every mentoring relationship is unique and this program encourages each individual pair to decide how formal, structured or informal they wish the relationship to be. ACC Australia also provide all the tools needed to make the program a success; a handbook, templates, forms, networking events and much more.

“Our Program Facilitator, Karina Butera, spends considerable time looking at each individual applicant to pair mentees with the best possible mentors based on the ideal location, level of experience, specialities and professional development priorities. She also keeps in regular contact with those in our program to provide tips and prompt the next steps to ensure our participants get the most out of the program,” says Ingrid.

In this mentoring program, the aim of a mentor is to listen objectively, act as a sounding board and give guidance that comes from experience. They encourage the mentee to step out of their comfort zone. Mentees can inspire senior leaders as well, help them gain a fresh perspective and enable them to develop further leadership skills including communication, interpersonal skills and providing constructive feedback. The program provides a trusted sounding board outside of your organisation who understands the pressures you experience as an in-house legal professional.

The Future Leaders Mentoring Program is available for all ACC Australia members. Participation is free for mentors and there is an administrative fee of $395 for mentees. Act now and receive the early bird special of $345, offer ends 8th November. Applications close 9th December.
