About Us
The Sole Legal Officer (SLO) Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Association of Corporate Counsel Australia (ACC Australia), colloquially referred to as “YOLO” (You’re the Only Legal Officer), is a network designed to be a place where lawyers who are the sole in-house counsel (or part of a small team) for their organisation can gain additional support, benefit from tailored learning opportunities, and have the opportunity to acquire knowledge from, and network with, other lawyers who are in a similar position.
While the intention is to cater to this segment of the in-house legal community, the SLO SIG doesn’t exclude membership in its Network just because they have other legal members in their team (ie not strictly YOLO’s). The diversity of thought, opinion and experience provides the best outcomes for our membership. The sessions, events and topics offered by the SLO SIG Committee (Committee) will focus on things that are important and relevant to YOLO’s.
The Committee will facilitate providing relevant resources, thought leadership and CPD events to the in-house legal network. The Committee is proud to host sessions at the ACC In-House Counsel Days and at the In-House Legal National Conference.
The Committee welcomes ideas and thoughts from other YOLO’s and the broader in-house legal community to contribute to the development of the SLO SIG because the Committee wants to help provide development, support and relevant information.
