RUNNING YOUR CHAPTER
The responsibility of the Association of Corporate Counsel is to work on behalf of its members and maintain a member-responsive organizational culture.
— ACC's Operating Philosophy
Role of the Chapter
Similarly, the role of the Chapter is to serve the corporate counsel community within a defined geographic area by providing benefits and services to the Chapters' members. Services should be determined by each Chapter based on the needs of its members. Experience has shown that successful Chapters provide their members with the following:
- Opportunities for involvement, both as a participant and a leader
- Educational programs
- Information
- Social and/or networking events
- Pro Bono opportunities
- Resume/job banks
- Charitable and community service opportunities
The Chapter is an extension of ACC. As such, the Chapter's role is to provide its members access to a range of local activities and opportunities.
Members of ACC look to their local Chapter to provide this connection and access to the corporate counsel community and ACC. Your Chapter represents ACC within that area. It is not uncommon for members to judge the quality of the association based on their Chapter experience. For this reason, ACC's Executive Committee has set out a list of "Chapter Requirements and Recommendations" to help guide each Chapter with successfully meeting the needs of its members. As Chapter President, these guidelines will help protect your Chapter's "Active ACC Chapter" status. The complete list of these guidelines is included in this section.
Your role, as Chapter President, is to guide the Chapter's initiatives and ensure the short and long term success of the Chapter. Your fellow officers, leaders, and ACC staff assist you in this endeavor.
