    Program Overview

    What is it?

    Law Department Leadership 2.0 will help in-house counsel hone their leadership skills to be more effective law department leaders, collaborate with non-legal staff to meet their organization’s business challenges and benchmark their personal and department’s performance against others in the in-house community.

    ACC and leading Canadian in-house counsel developed the intensive, one-day program because today’s companies require that their in-house counsel be effective managers as well as excellent lawyers.

    Who should attend?

    The program is designed to provide practical information for in-house lawyers who have or will soon have management responsibilities.

    What will you learn?
    • How to measure and demonstrate the value of your legal department in a way that contributes to the achievement of your organization’s overall strategic goals;
    • Tactics for providing legal advice in a way that contributes to business development and effecting positive strategic change throughout your organization from your role as counsel;
    • Strategies for planning and adjusting the legal department's development as the business changes in size and geographic markets;
    • How to build a team with diverse skills and manage the legal department more efficiently;
    • The many next-step career options available to in-house counsel within an organization and how best to position oneself for those opportunities;
    • How to be an effective leader, set a strategic vision, and obtain the buy-in from your team, other departments and management; and

    Aperçu du programme

    De quoi s’agit-il?

    La formation Law Department Leadership 2.0 aidera les conseillers juridiques d’entreprise à améliorer leurs qualités de leader pour pouvoir diriger plus efficacement leur service juridique. Elle les aidera aussi à collaborer avec le personnel non juridique pour relever les défis auxquels fait face l’entreprise et leur permettra de comparer leur rendement personnel et celui de leur service au rendement des conseillers juridiques d’autres entreprises.

    Aujourd’hui, les entreprises exigent que leurs conseillers juridiques soient des gestionnaires efficaces en plus d’être d’excellents avocats. C’est pour refléter cette réalité que l’ACC, en collaboration avec des chefs de file parmi les conseillers juridiques d’entreprise canadiens, a mis sur pied cet atelier intensif d’une journée.

    Qui devrait y participer?

    L’atelier vise à fournir des renseignements pratiques aux avocats en entreprise qui doivent, ou qui devront sous peu, assumer des responsabilités de gestionnaire.

    Qu’allez-vous apprendre?
    • Comment mesurer et démontrer la valeur de votre service juridique en vue d’atteindre les objectifs stratégiques globaux de l’entreprise;
    • Des tactiques pour formuler des conseils juridiques propres à favoriser le développement des affaires et pour que votre rôle de conseiller juridique génère un changement de stratégie positif dans l’entreprise;
    • Des stratégies pour planifier et adapter la croissance de votre service juridique à mesure que l’entreprise change de taille et de marchés géographiques;
    • Comment bâtir une équipe dont les membres ont des compétences diversifiées et assurer une gestion plus efficace de votre service juridique;
    • Les nombreuses possibilités d’avancement offertes aux conseillers juridiques dans une entreprise et les meilleurs moyens de saisir ces possibilités;
    • Comment être un dirigeant performant, établir une vision stratégique et savoir mobiliser efficacement son équipe, les autres services de l’entreprise et la direction;
    • Les compétences humaines qu’il faut posséder pour réussir comme conseiller juridique en entreprise et les outils pratiques à utiliser pour tisser et cultiver des liens avec diverses parties prenantes.
