This article provides an overview of the Cyber Security Strategy 2020, issued by the Australian government in October 2020.
In particular, several key initiatives from the 2020 Strategy are outlined, including the following: (1) the critical infrastructure regulatory framework will be enhanced and uplifted; (2) new laws will set a minimum cyber security baseline across the entire economy; (3) new powers to allow government to act against sophisticated cyber-attacks; (4) a voluntary code of practice for Internet of Things released for consultation; (5) the government will strengthen its own networks; and (6) the government will consider whether it can legislate to block threats automatically.
