Liability insurance policies can be a valuable asset for corporate insureds and can help defray much or all of the expense associated with defending and resolving lawsuits and other claims. However, companies often fail to take full advantage of the broad coverage their liability insurance policies provide. In this presentation, insurance recovery partners from Pasich LLP will focus on ways in which companies can maximize their coverage for lawsuits and claims and maximize the value of their liability insurance policies. Among other topics, our panel will address notice and reporting requirements, privilege, defense costs, settlements, responding to reservations of rights letters, and understanding the rights and issues associated with independent defense counsel. The panel also will provide tips for ensuring that all available insurance and indemnity resources have been considered.

Corporate counsel have a lot on their plate.  Insurance law may not seem like a priority to an attorney concerned about securities or construction law, or just keeping the business out of trouble.  But insurance is a topic ignored at one's peril, whether in the context of responding to litigation or an investigation, filing a lawsuit, or merely looking into potential liability-producing events.  This event will provide attorneys with the understanding and necessary street smarts about how insurance policies work to avoid losing the coverage potentially available to you.
