On April 16, 2014 we launched our Chapter's first In-House Women's Initiative. Each year, the Women's Initiative offers a series of programs specifically tailored to address the unique needs of female in-house counsel. The mission of the Women's Initiative is to help female in-house attorneys define success and the ways they can achieve it through leadership opportunities, networking and other resources that will make them more effective attorneys in their organizations and their communities. Practicing law inside corporate America can carry some unique challenges. The rapid pace to make decisions and the pressures to work harder with fewer resources can be difficult. This can be especially challenging for women who are new to the in-house practice, who may be raising families or are actively engaged in their communities. Our hope is that this initiative can help you rise to the challenge. Our only requirement of you is that you pay it forward and lift other women up and you become successful.
Our Chapter members, both male and female, have embraced the mission and the value of this program. To ensure our Chapter's commitment to this initiative, the Women's Initiative has a Steering Committee comprised of Chapter Board members and sponsors to provide strategic oversight for the initiative. We also have a Planning Committee comprised of Chapter members with responsibility for planning future programs and events.
Future programs later this year will focus on leadership, communication styles, mentoring and other strategic alliances.
