Women's Committee Mission

The mission of the Women's Initiative Committee is to promote the professional development and advancement of women in-house counsel at all levels of their careers.  The Committee seeks to fulfill this mission by offering programs, events and other opportunities for members to: explore topics of particular relevance to women in-house counsel; to develop and/or enhance their "soft skills"; to participate in a mentoring program; and to expand their networks.  Each year, the Committee hosts several events.

If you have creative ideas for potential programs or events or you would like to get involved with the Committee, please contact the Chairperson, Marisa Murtagh at northeastacc@gmail.com for more information.

JAN - Topic explored:

As women in the workplace, many of us are familiar with the concept of "mansplaining", defined as the explanation of something by a man, typically to a woman, in a manner regarded as condescending or patronizing. While many of us have probably been subjected to this phenomenon, we will also discuss ways in which we can better respond to such incidents. We will share our experiences as well as exchange ideas on how to respond or react to mansplaining, and interrupters in general.  See links to relevant articles below.
