Because the laws and regulations governing employee benefit plans are complex and ever changing, those responsible for employee benefit plans should constantly check their plans and procedures to ensure compliance. Paying close attention to your benefit plan documents and plan operations will help keep them up-to-date and the plan sponsor in the good graces of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the Department of Labor (DOL).
