Legal Prep is Chicago’s first and only legal-themed high school and serves 285 students from its West Garfield Park location.  Legal Prep’s mission is to provide a high-quality high school education in one of Chicago’s most under resourced communities and use its legal-theme curriculum and programs to give students the skills to be successful in college and life.  Founded in 2012, Legal Prep is consistently recognized as the highest rated open enrollment high school in a two-mile radius.

Come help improve the school and its grounds!  On July 20th we will repaint various common spaces in the school; organize its utility, supply, and storage spaces; provide basic garden work around the building – specifically in the courtyard; set up Chromebooks for upcoming school year; and organize Library books and shelves.

The post-employment non-compete landscape continues to change all over the country. At the federal level, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has proposed a rule that would ban non-competes nationwide, spurring multiple legal challenges. A Texas federal judge will decide a challenge to the FTC non-compete ban by July 3, 2024. On the state level, several state legislatures passed bans that were vetoed; California expanded the reach of its non-compete ban; and, over recent years, numerous states (including Illinois) have placed limitations on the use and enforcement of non-competes.

Please join Epstein Becker Green attorneys Kate Rigby and Carolyn Boucek, along with Kurt Hadley, Senior Counsel, Employment Law and Litigation at Ingredion, on July 9 or 10, 2024, for an informative and interactive discussion about how employers can navigate uncertainty in the current landscape of non-compete laws in the United States, with an emphasis on addressing the intricacies and pitfalls of the FTC’s proposed non-compete ban, practical tips to deal with the possible future outcomes of the litigation challenging the ban, and other ways to protect employers’ legitimate business interests and guard against unfair competition.
