Gun violence is on the rise across the U.S., and while no one wants to imagine a deadly weapons event happening to them, the reality is that the past two years have been the deadliest years for gun violence on record with more than 1,300 mass shootings recorded. After years of growing tensions, exacerbated by the pandemic, organizations must prepare themselves to deal with the unpredictability of human nature as continued civil unrest and polarized political views continue to escalate across the U.S. This webinar will cover how to get proactive and put programs in place to prevent a workplace violence event.

Are you prepared? Do you have a plan in place?

Join us for an interactive panel discussion on the changing landscape around gun violence. Human Resource professionals are invited to attend along with in-house counsel.

Key takeaways for attendees:

  • Prevention before
  • Mitigation during
  • Indemnification after

ATTENDEE DRAWING: One lucky attendee will receive a free Premium Personal Stop the Bleed® Kit. (valued at $75). Have it at your workplace, bring it with you camping or hiking, at sporting events and on trips. The zippered nylon bag will protect the kit and keep you prepared for a bleeding emergency wherever you are.

We all deal with conflict in our personal and professional lives. As in house counsel, we are expected to provide guidance and assistance with conflict resolution across our organizations. During this presentation, trial attorney Caitlin Jones will discuss conflict avoidance and the litigation stemming from Rule 1.13 and the client-lawyer relationship. She will provide you with practical tips for maintaining your duty of loyalty when conflict arises among your team, between parent and subsidiary, or within your Board and C-Suite. She will discuss how the attorney should act when the employee acting for the business proposes to act contrary to the best interests of the organization. She will also provide insight into dealing with organizational conflict and avoiding both malpractice and ethical liability stemming from conflicts of interest. She will conclude with some best practices to help you deal with intra-company conflicts.

When do you go at red and stop at green? When you are eating a watermelon!

Nothing beats the summer heat like a big slice of juicy watermelon. Thankfully ACC-SoCal’s Well-Being Committee is here to quench that thirst with a Sunday fun day at Tanaka Farms. On August 7, 2022 at 9:30AM, we will be hosting a melon tour at Tanaka Farms in Irvine and providing complimentary admission for ACC members and a plus one.

Take a guided wagon ride around a 30 acre farm to see and learn about how summer fruits and vegetables grow from Canary Melons to Cantaloupe, and Honeydew to the rare Yellow Watermelon! Make a stop in the fields to harvest a seasonal vegetable, then sit under a shaded tent and sample lots of fresh cut summer squash, different types of melon, and take home a melon of your very own. Space is limited so sign up fast. We look forward to seeing you there!

Please join us for a panel discussing recent changes in the world of employment arbitration. The session will also include a discussion of AB51 – California’s ban on mandatory arbitration agreements – and how employers and employees can continue to protect their interests in this evolving climate.
