Please join the ACC NCR Pro Bono Committee and Legal Services of Northern Virginia to learn about and discuss laws and policies that have had a particular impact on low-income individuals.  This program will also discuss the influence of inequities in society that cause poverty, with a focus on racism.  Virginia specific policies will be highlighted, as well as the role of legal aid and pro bono services.  This is intended as an introduction to these topics in the civil context and will not focus on criminal law.  Virginia MCLE – approval pending.

Have you ever wondered what it means to be an ally? Or what you can do to advance Equity and Inclusion in your workplace? If so, please join us for this important conversation.  This program is open to ALL who want to be a part of the conversation and strive to be better allies in their workplace.

Historically, women, people of color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and attorneys with disabilities have been underrepresented in private law firms and in house legal departments.  Recruitment isn't the main issue but access to career enhancing work, client development opportunities, sponsorship, and unconscious biases all play major roles in the retention and advancement of underrepresented attorneys.

Our panel will candidly discuss the challenges many in-house professionals have historically faced in both law firms and legal departments. Panelists will offer insights, best practices and innovative approaches to address these issues, with an emphasis on the important role allies play in ensuring a diverse pipeline of talent at all levels of the organization.

This event is open to both men and women.  Please join us by registering below.  Dial-in info will be sent 24 hours in advance of the event.
