ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) is the framework for assessing the impact of the sustainability and ethical practices of a company. While many ESG criteria are rather subjective (such as evaluations of “diversity” or “inclusion”), moves are occurring on several fronts that are designed to provide more objective, credible metrics of a company’s performance in terms of ESG policies and actions. As the 2021 BlackRock letter and SEC announcements demonstrated, company disclosures and commitments are being monitored and measured not only by market demands, but also public opinion. Companies that find themselves out of step or under scrutiny may face punishing reputational consequences and litigation risk. This complimentary webinar will highlight the accelerating key trends and provide best practices on how in-house counsel can navigate the foundation and evolution of ESG.

What You Will Learn:

• Discussion and understanding of Environmental, Social, and Governance factors;
• The role of in-house counsel in a company’s ESG efforts; and
• ESG best practices that can be implemented throughout your business operation.

The ACC Georgia Women’s Initiative invites you to join our book-club-style virtual event to talk about Caste:The Origins of Our Discontents by Isabel Wilkerson!

In the last few years, our country has gone through a racial awakening at a scale that the country has not seen since the height of the civil rights movement in the 1960s.  Many books have been written recently to explore racial issues and to try to explain why we interact with different races the way we do.  Pulitzer Prize winning author Isabel Wilkerson’s Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents is one of the best books on the topic. The Chicago Tribune writes that Caste “should be at the top of every American’s reading list.” It is also one of the 2020 picks by Oprah’s Book Club.

You do not have to read the book to participate in the conversation, but having read the book before the event would certainly lead to a deeper and more meaningful conversation.

We look forward to having an honest, open, respectful conversation about the book.
