The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) is the world's largest organization serving the professional and business interests of attorneys who practice in the legal departments of corporations, associations, nonprofits and other private-sector organizations around the globe.
This presentation we will focus on a breadth of intellectual property issues that general counsel deal with on a daily basis. The program will, at a high level, cover patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret issues that general counsel without inside IP counsel might expect to see on a weekly monthly or yearly basis. We will discuss how to handle the IP legal issues that arise, what inside counsel can handle and when to get some outside help.
Whether clients are facing regulatory obligations, e-discovery and other litigation costs, privacy risk, or increasing cyber threats, the financial and reputational impact of keeping legacy data and paper documents beyond their operational life has hit a point of critical mass. In this program, our experts will discuss obligations attorneys have to counsel their clients on effective data retention and disposition.

ACC-SoCal will be participating in Jenner & Block’s Project for the Innocent Pro Bono CLE Event on Tuesday, February 21st at noon in their Los Angeles office, located at 633 W. 5th St., Suite 3600. Professor Laurie Levenson, who leads Loyola’s Project for the Innocent (LPI), will be presenting a CLE training on how to screen innocence cases to find meritorious ones. At the conclusion of the event, we will discuss ways to partner with each other and Professor Levenson to evaluate these cases and assist those who have been wrongfully convicted.
This screening project involves reviewing information provided by the prisoner, legal documents including appellate briefs and decisions, and evidence from the prisoner’s trial, and drafting a memo explaining why we do or do not recommend that the case be accepted for further investigation.
This event is open to lawyers and paralegals. There is an option to attend virtually via Zoom. Lunch will be served for in-person attendees

What’s the address? 5 Riparian View, Irvine, California
Where do I park? There is free parking on Riparian. You must enter by making a right turn from Campus onto Riparian (for context, this means you are basically starting at and then driving away from In-N-Out on Campus). Please do not trust your map apps and review the attached map. You cannot turn left from Campus onto Riparian, and you cannot enter from Michelson…no matter what the maps apps say. 😊
How will I find ACC Members? We will meet in the overflow parking lot at 1:00. As you pull in to park, stay to the right to go to overflow (there is probably a sign).
What should I wear? Comfortable shoes. The paths are mostly pretty flat, but not paved.
What do I need to bring? Bring water to carry or leave in your car (depending on how hot it will be that day). You might want sunscreen.
Are there restrooms? Unconfirmed. It’s possible, but don’t plan on it.
What if I want to walk longer? There are 12 miles of walking trails. We will plan to circle back to the parking lot for people who need to get back to work, but anyone who wants to stay longer can continue to explore another direction.
