With the rise of generative AI in 2023, enthusiasm for the metaverse has appeared to dip. Or has it? Described as a shared, online, three-dimensional space where people can live, work, interact and connect virtually, the metaverse aspires to create a global virtual community void of physical or location restraints but has been slow to achieve widespread adoption. Conversely, generative AI has had record-breaking adoption levels and is being implemented in everyday consumer and business products and services. What can the combination of both of these technologies yield? By looking at these two together what can we learn about the possibilities and risks of each?
Please join us for a webinar where Baker McKenzie's experts will walk through a hypothetical example and have an interactive discussion about the legal issues related to the metaverse, as well as the developing influence of AI on said platforms. Questions to be addressed:
Where do these two technologies stand together and apart?
How do the content creation capabilities of generative AI progress the development of metaverseplatforms?
What kind of scrutiny is necessary when evaluating current and potential use cases of both Gen AI and the metaverse?
How can product development, in-house counsel and human resources teams ensure their use of biometrics, data and machine learning are ethically sound?
How can creators manage the collection of personal data in both Gen AI and the metaverse?
When a company announces the sale, purchase, or restructuring of a business unit or entity, a company’s supplier contracts and contract practices will come into focus for large-scale analysis and remediation. Multiple stakeholders involved in the contracting process will be pulled out of their daily routine to prepare information on the Company’s Contracts. This session will focus on the legal department’s role in that process and how to prepare for a transaction or restructuring before it is announced or even contemplated.
This presentation will cover the increasingly common issue of Congressional investigations for businesses, and other high-profile and politically-sensitive investigations that can necessitate a combination of crisis management and legal expertise. The presenters include, a former Associate White House counsel who has prepared Fortune 10 CEOs for Congressional testimony, a counsel to the January 6 House Select Committee, and a former DOJ prosecutor who has lead several high-profile investigations, including involving allegations of sexual assault within the Chicago Blackhawks organization in 2021.
This session will provide an overview on the roles that legal, information security, and other departments play in developing, implementing, and maintaining information security programs. The session will also include a discussion on the characteristics of effective information security programs and perspectives on how effective information security programs can not only serve to protect an organization but play a critical role in an organization’s strategic growth initiatives.
Your company is committed to DEI, and business leaders want metrics and accountability. How do you support those efforts and protect the company in the face of obstacles such as addressing the impact of the pending Target and Starbucks DEI lawsuits, the recent Supreme Court affirmative action rulings, internal and external opposition, threatened lawsuits over perceived and/or actual quotas/goals, state law threats to DEI programs, politically charged work environments, and DEI professionals charged with “fixing” DEI despite being understaffed and burnt out? This session will cover all of these important topics and provide practical guidance to help your company remain committed to DEI, without undue risk.
Please join us for a networking reception and presentation. The food will be from the award winning Majordomo!
