As many organizations are seeing, generational shifts in the workforce can create more opportunities for diversity in leadership roles. The new insights, strategies, ideas, and points of view gained from multigenerational leadership teams can have many benefits, but legal challenges may arise when generational, cultural, and management styles fail to mesh. This session will focus on strategies for effectively managing a workforce with multigenerational leadership, including best practices for handling workplace investigations, complaints, differing communication and work styles, and other issues to brace for when leadership styles clash.

The GDPR was enacted more than 5 years ago, but global companies continue to grapple with privacy laws throughout the world, now with even more cybersecurity laws and regulations set to take effect. Beginning with a panel discussion, this session will compare existing US and EU data privacy laws with China's new Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) before attendees step in to discuss how data privacy scenarios should be handled under both existing and future laws. The session will integrate insights for crafting a flexible and effective global cybersecurity compliance policy, examine international perspectives on cybersecurity obligations, and identify overlaps in cybersecurity and data privacy.

This presentation will cover recent developments in United States trademark and unfair competition law over the trailing twelve months. Highlights will include the following:

• the Supreme Court’s great muddying of the waters in Vidal v. Elster;
• applications of the Court’s decisions in Jack Daniel’s Props., Inc. v. VIP Prods. LLC, 599 U.S. 140 (2023), and Abitron Austria GmbH v. Hetronic Int’l, Inc., 600 U.S. 412 (2023);
• yet another accounting-of-profits dispute before the Court;
• strange goings-on in the Middle District of Pennsylvania; and
• the USPTO’s new fee schedule.
